Stan Brakhage dies
March 12, 2003STAN Brakhage, the prolific experimental director whose 1964 masterpiece Dog Star Man is among the most important American movies ever made, has died of cancer. He was 70.
The retired professor of film studies from the University of Colorado died on Sunday in a hospital in Victoria, British Columbia.Brakhage, who retired to Canada in September, made nearly 380 films, each lasting between nine seconds and four hours.
